By the time I reacted to the situation, it was already too late. Rachel had the key to this room. In such a small, confined space, any scene within would be immediately visible upon her entrance.
In a flurry of motion, I shoved Jared under the blanket and forced a giggle as Rachel walked in.
"Damn, Yvette! What are you hiding in there? A man? Where's Jared? I just asked him to come over first. You didn't kick him out, did you? Wait a minute. Aren't these Jared's shoes?"
"Rae, give me three minutes. Can you please step outside and excuse us for a while?"
Upon hearing my request, she massaged her temples and stepped out. Jared and I quickly changed and cleaned ourselves up before inviting Rachel back in.
As Rachel entered and moved to pull Jared's ear in a teasing gesture, I instinctively stepped in front of him, shielding him with my body.
"Tsk! Already starting to defend him now, I see."
Jared clutched the hem of my shirt from behind while Rachel cast him a speechless look. At this moment, the air in the room seemed tense.
Suddenly, Rachel laughed and asked me, "Are you dating him out of your own will?"
I nodded.
"Absolutely! Yvette, I never thought you'd end up with my little brother. Looks like I'm your future sister-in-law! I've always wondered why he wouldn't share a dime with me despite making a fortune. Now it all makes sense—he's been saving up for his girlfriend."
My thoughts raced with doubts as I pondered when Jared had started earning money. Instantly, I turned to him and caught him silently pleading with his sister to keep quiet.
"You really don't want to know how he's been making his money, trust me. You might get jealous. Now that you seem okay, I'll leave you lovebirds alone."
With a playful wink at Jared, she took her leave.
Once Rachel was gone, I pushed Jared onto the bed and lifted his chin. "Be honest, Jared, and you'll avoid trouble. Hide anything, and there will be consequences."
"Alright, Yvette, but you have to promise not to get mad at me first."
I nodded, and he hesitantly reached for his phone and showed me something that made me pause. On his screen was a username I recognized all too well.
'Wait, isn't this the irritating guy I blocked?' I thought to myself.
"When are you going to unblock me, Yvette?"
"My goodness, Jared! How can you follow such bad influences at your age?"
After my outburst, he switched his phone display to his bank account, revealing his balance. I squinted, disbelieving what I saw.
'One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight… Holy cow! This kid actually has eight-figure savings!' I exclaimed inwardly.
"You're quite the money-maker, aren't you?"
Frankly speaking, I had never seen so much money in my life.
"That's why you don't need to worry about supporting me anymore. From now on, I'll support you."
"But I don't want anyone else eyeing my man." Jealousy was clear in my expression as I spoke.
In the next instant, Jared grabbed his phone, fiddled with it briefly, then pulled me into a hug and snapped a photo.
"Unblock me, quick."
Left with little choice, I scrolled through my blocked list. Finding his account, I unblocked him immediately.
When I visited his profile again, it was nearly empty, save for a single image and a caption beneath it. 'You are the one and only for the rest of my life.'
Then, he deleted a video from my account that had suggestive content. He confessed that he had reported my account previously to prevent the video from being posted, insisting that only he should see it.
Later, he transformed his account, with ten million followers, into a chronicle of our everyday romantic life.
After completing his studies and graduating, Jared formally proposed to me.
......
Jared's POV.
I've been smitten since the moment I laid eyes on Yvette. If anyone asked me what an angel looked like, I would point straight to her.
